Fourteen years behind the camera, ten of them photographing weddings, inform Kyla Fear's documentary approach to small celebrations. The Denver photographer deliberately favors micro-weddings and elopements over large receptions because, in her words, the smaller scale lets her concentrate on the couple's connection and the handful of people who matter most to them. Her favorite settings reflect both city and mountain sides of Colorado: the Denver Botanic Gardens and downtown city elopements on one hand, Rocky Mountain National Park, Garden of the Gods, and Red Rocks on the other. Beyond wedding work she maintains an active family, maternity, and portrait practice, and offers film add-ons for couples who want analog frames mixed into their gallery.
