Kula Botanical Garden
About
Upcountry Maui offers a completely different wedding climate than the island's beaches — cooler air, afternoon mist, and mountain views — and Kula Botanical Garden is one of the established ways to marry in it. The garden at 638 Kekaulike Avenue in Kula describes itself as a fit for a small intimate wedding or a larger gathering, with several distinct sites across the property: a lanai beside the koi pond that the venue singles out for small ceremonies and proposals, a garden lawn, and an event pavilion that together can handle up to 100 guests. Unusually for a Maui venue, hiring a wedding coordinator is explicitly optional — the garden states it does not require one, though its on-site coordinator Ku'ulei works with whomever couples bring. The grounds stay open to the public 365 days a year for self-guided tours, which means couples can walk every potential ceremony spot for the price of admission before committing. Aviaries, a covered bridge, rock formations, and dense collections of protea and native plants give photographers material that has nothing in common with the standard beach portfolio. Wedding site fees are quoted through the venue's inquiry process rather than published online.
